Abuja, Nigeria — Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reiterated the importance of international partnerships in advancing Nigeria’s development, following a meeting with the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Patrick Egloff.
In a statement released after the meeting, Obi described the engagement as “productive and engaging,” noting that discussions focused on Nigeria’s developmental trajectory, with particular emphasis on education, healthcare, and poverty reduction as the key pillars of sustainable national development.
Obi expressed appreciation to the Swiss Confederation for its longstanding support to Nigeria, acknowledging the country’s contributions to economic growth, cultural cooperation, humanitarian assistance, and peace-building efforts, particularly in the North-East region.
According to him, strengthening partnerships built on shared values and a common commitment to human development remains crucial to building a more prosperous, inclusive, and equitable Nigeria.

The meeting comes as the NDC presidential candidate continues consultations with local and international stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections, where he has consistently advocated for investments in education, healthcare, job creation, and good governance as the foundation for national transformation.
