Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has identified Liverpool and Manchester City as the two teams he believes can challenge Mikel Arteta’s side for the Premier League title this season.
Henry, speaking as a CBS Sports analyst, pointed to the strength of Arsenal’s major rivals as the Gunners begin their campaign as defending champions. His assessment comes after Arsenal made an impressive start to their title defence, winning their opening three league matches.
The former France international has consistently highlighted Liverpool and Manchester City as the clubs most capable of competing with Arsenal at the top of the table. Liverpool remain a major threat because of their quality and experience, while Manchester City have continued to operate among the Premier League’s leading sides despite changes to their squad and coaching staff.
Arsenal secured the 2025/26 Premier League title for the first time in 22 years, finishing seven points ahead of Manchester City. The achievement ended a long wait for the Gunners and gave Arteta his first Premier League championship as manager.
Henry’s comments are significant because Arsenal are attempting to defend the league crown while also competing in Europe and domestic cup competitions. Maintaining consistency across a demanding schedule could prove crucial, particularly with Liverpool and Manchester City expected to push strongly for the title.
