Timi Frank Alleges Irregularities in Tinubu’s 2026 Budget, Calls for Greater Accountability

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has criticised the Federal Government’s handling of the proposed 2026 budget, alleging that the administration lacks transparency in the management of public funds.

Frank made the remarks while commenting on the government’s fiscal policies, accusing the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration of failing to uphold accountability in the budgeting process.

According to him, “The Tinubu government is now synonymous with fraud,” a statement that has since sparked reactions across political circles and social media.

The allegation comes amid ongoing public debate over the implementation of the 2026 budget and the government’s economic policies. As Nigeria continues to grapple with inflation, rising living costs and fiscal challenges, opposition figures and civil society groups have intensified calls for greater transparency in public spending.

The controversy is significant because the national budget serves as the government’s primary financial blueprint, determining how resources are allocated to critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, security and agriculture. Questions surrounding the management of budgetary funds therefore have direct implications for economic development and public confidence in government institutions.

However, Frank’s remarks represent political allegations and should be viewed as his opinion. At the time of reporting, no independent evidence had been presented to substantiate the claims, and the Federal Government had not publicly responded to the specific accusations.

Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu’s administration has implemented a series of economic reforms aimed at stabilising Nigeria’s economy, attracting investment and improving public finances. While government officials argue that the policies are necessary for long-term growth, critics contend that they have placed additional pressure on citizens and businesses.
