Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has commenced his annual vacation, temporarily handing over the administration of the state to his deputy, Bayo Lawal.
The transition allows the deputy governor to oversee the affairs of the state while Makinde is away on leave. The arrangement is in line with constitutional procedures designed to ensure continuity in governance whenever a state governor is temporarily unavailable.
During the governor’s absence, Lawal is expected to supervise government activities and ensure that ongoing programmes and official responsibilities continue without interruption.
The development is significant because the temporary transfer of authority helps prevent any leadership vacuum and guarantees the smooth running of government operations. It also demonstrates the importance of established constitutional mechanisms in maintaining stability within Nigeria’s state governments.
