NDC Northern Candidates Meet Kwankwaso, Dickson, Reaffirm Commitment to 2027 Victory

Candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) from 15 northern states have held a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening party unity, coordination and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, held on August 20, 2026, was led by the NDC’s presidential campaign leadership, including former Kano State Governor and the party’s incoming Vice President, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The delegation was received by the National Leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, during an engagement described as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to building a united political platform capable of responding to the aspirations of Nigerians.
Speaking on the significance of the meeting, NDC chieftain Mazi Nnamdi Dickson Iroegbu said the interaction provided an opportunity for candidates from the northern states to reaffirm their collective commitment to purposeful leadership, internal cohesion and effective grassroots mobilisation.
According to him, the meeting came at a critical moment as the 2027 campaign gathers momentum across the country, with the party seeking to deepen its engagement with citizens and build stronger structures ahead of the elections.
Iroegbu said the NDC leadership remains focused on listening to the concerns of Nigerians and mobilising the necessary political and organisational resources to secure electoral victory.
He stressed that the party’s ambition goes beyond winning elections, maintaining that an NDC administration would be expected to translate its campaign promises into tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians.
The NDC chieftain particularly highlighted the importance of the northern region, noting that the party would work closely with communities across the region to understand their concerns and develop governance priorities capable of addressing their socio-economic and developmental challenges.
The meeting also underscored the importance of disciplined teamwork and a common political vision among party candidates and leaders as the 2027 electoral contest approaches.
Iroegbu expressed confidence that greater coordination among NDC leaders, candidates and grassroots supporters would strengthen the party’s chances at the polls.
