The COPDEM Students Network (CSN), Bauchi State Chapter, strongly and unequivocally condemns the reported violent attack on the convoy of former presidential candidate *Peter Obi* during a political engagement in Edo State.
This disturbing incident represents more than an attack on one political figure, it is a direct assault on democracy, political freedom, and the constitutional rights of Nigerians to participate in governance without fear of intimidation or violence. Nigeria must never return to an era where political disagreement is settled through threats, chaos, or bloodshed.

As a youth-driven democratic movement under the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), we view this development as part of a growing pattern of political intolerance that threatens national stability and discourages young people from engaging in civic and democratic processes.
We state clearly: *no democracy survives where opposition voices are unsafe.* When political actors are attacked, democracy itself becomes the victim.
The COPDEM Students Network therefore demands:
* An immediate, independent, and transparent investigation into the attack.
* The swift arrest and prosecution of all perpetrators and sponsors, regardless of political affiliation or status.
* Immediate guarantees of safety for all political actors and citizens participating in lawful political activities nationwide.
* A firm public commitment from political leaders to end inflammatory rhetoric capable of inciting violence.
We call on security agencies to act decisively and without political bias. Silence, delay, or selective justice will only embolden further violence and deepen public distrust in democratic institutions.
Nigeria’s young people refuse to watch democracy weakened by intimidation and lawlessness. The future of our nation depends on protecting civic space, political plurality, and peaceful participation.
The COPDEM Students Network stands in firm solidarity with all Nigerians who believe in justice, accountability, and democratic freedom. We urge civil society organisations, student bodies, and democratic stakeholders across the country to rise collectively against political violence in all its forms.
Democracy must be defended loudly, courageously, and without compromise.
