A legal practitioner has called on the Federal Government to conduct a transparent and independent investigation into the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), saying a credible inquiry is necessary to strengthen public confidence in government institutions.
Addressing the issue, the lawyer expressed concern over the government’s handling of allegations linked to the purported agency, arguing that clearer communication and greater transparency are needed to address public concerns. He maintained that unresolved questions surrounding the matter could undermine trust in public institutions if not properly investigated.
The controversy stems from allegations involving the PFIPC, an entity the Presidency has maintained is not a legally recognised government agency. The issue has attracted widespread attention following claims relating to its alleged operations, financial activities, and appointments.
According to the legal practitioner, the appropriate government agencies should be allowed to investigate the allegations thoroughly and make their findings available to the public. He stressed that accountability and openness remain fundamental to good governance and the rule of law.
The lawyer further urged the authorities to ensure that any investigation is conducted without interference, noting that an impartial process would help reassure Nigerians that all allegations are being treated with the seriousness they deserve.
