The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power interruption affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, as it undertakes routine maintenance on one of its transmission substations.
According to the company, the temporary outage is part of efforts to upgrade critical transmission infrastructure and improve the stability of electricity supply across the national grid. TCN said the maintenance work will enable its engineers to service key equipment, helping to prevent unexpected faults and enhance overall network performance.
The company explained that customers supplied through the affected transmission substation should expect temporary interruptions in electricity during the maintenance period. It, however, assured residents and businesses that normal power supply would be restored immediately after the scheduled work is completed.
TCN expressed regret over the inconvenience the exercise may cause and appealed to electricity consumers for patience and understanding. It reiterated that routine maintenance is necessary to strengthen the country’s transmission network and ensure a more reliable power supply in the long term.
The transmission company also urged electricity distribution companies operating in the affected areas to notify their customers of the outage schedule and provide updates on the restoration of supply.
Industry experts have described the maintenance exercise as a positive step toward improving Nigeria’s power infrastructure. They noted that regular servicing of transmission facilities plays a critical role in reducing equipment failures, improving grid stability, and supporting efficient electricity delivery nationwide.
