Tinubu Under Renewed Fire as Explosive Dossier Revives Identity, Certificate, and U.S. Case Controversies

Kio Amachree fresh publication surrounding the background, identity, academic history, and past legal controversies linked to Bola Ahmed Tinubu have resurfaced online following the circulation of a lengthy dossier compiled by has gain significant attention in political discussions.

The document, widely shared across social media and political platforms, revisits longstanding allegations and controversies that have trailed the Nigerian president for decades, including disputes over his birth records, educational certificates, alleged links to a U.S. narcotics-related forfeiture case, and questions surrounding an alleged Guinean diplomatic passport.

Among the most controversial claims are assertions regarding the president’s original identity and family background. The publication references writings by Professor Farooq Kperogi and late activist Yinka Odumakin alleging that Tinubu was originally known by another name and hailed from Iragbiji rather than Lagos. These claims, however, remain politically disputed and have never been conclusively established in any court of law.

The report also revisits controversies surrounding the president’s academic credentials from Chicago State University. Court-ordered academic records released during litigation connected to the 2023 Nigerian presidential election generated widespread public debate after discrepancies allegedly emerged in dates of birth, certificate formats, and other documentation.

Supporters of the president have consistently dismissed the discrepancies as administrative or clerical inconsistencies, while opposition figures and critics argue the issues raise broader credibility concerns.

Another major issue revisited in the circulating document concerns the 1993 U.S. federal forfeiture case involving funds linked to accounts bearing Tinubu’s name. U.S. court records show that $460,000 was forfeited to the American government following investigations connected to narcotics-related financial transactions. However, no criminal conviction was secured against Tinubu in the United States.

The matter has remained a recurring subject in Nigerian political discourse, particularly after the release of portions of U.S. court filings and renewed legal efforts seeking disclosure of additional investigative records from agencies including the FBI and DEA.

The dossier further references controversy surrounding an alleged Guinean diplomatic passport reportedly linked to the president and debates over disclosures made in forms submitted to Independent National Electoral Commission during the 2023 presidential election process.

Legal analysts remain divided over the constitutional and legal implications of the issue, especially concerning dual citizenship disclosures and electoral compliance requirements.

Despite repeated controversies, Nigeria’s Supreme Court upheld Tinubu’s election victory following the 2023 presidential election petitions, effectively bringing the legal contest over his qualification and election to a constitutional conclusion.

Political observers say the continued circulation of such dossiers reflects the deep political polarization within Nigeria ahead of future electoral contests, as opposition actors continue efforts to challenge the legitimacy and public image of the president.

The presidency and Tinubu’s political allies have repeatedly described many of the allegations as politically motivated attacks aimed at discrediting his administration and legacy.
