Nigerian skit maker and content creator Carter Efe has lost his official TikTok account, which had more than 5.6 million followers, after the platform permanently banned the page over repeated violations of its community guidelines.
The ban was confirmed on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after screenshots of TikTok’s enforcement notice circulated online. The platform reportedly cited multiple policy violations but did not publicly specify the individual infractions that led to the permanent removal.
The development has generated reactions among Carter Efe’s fans and social media users, many of whom expressed surprise at the loss of an account with millions of followers. The page had served as a major channel for the comedian’s skits, music promotions and livestreams.
The incident is particularly significant because social media platforms have become important sources of visibility and income for Nigerian content creators. Losing a large account can mean losing access to an established audience built over several years.
Carter Efe, whose real name is Oderhowho Joseph Efe, has previously experienced a TikTok account ban. In June 2025, the platform removed another account belonging to the entertainer, which had reportedly accumulated about 3.5 million followers. That action followed controversy surrounding comments he made during a livestream involving singer Wizkid. He later apologised and rebuilt his TikTok audience.
Despite the latest setback, Carter Efe remains active on other digital platforms, including Twitch and Instagram, allowing him to maintain contact with his audience outside TikTok.
The latest ban highlights the risks creators face when their careers depend heavily on third-party platforms. It also underscores the importance of understanding and complying with community guidelines, copyright rules and other platform policies as Nigeria’s digital entertainment industry continues to expand.
