The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says it has fielded candidates for all elective positions across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections, signalling its intention to build a nationwide political presence.
Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central, made the disclosure while discussing the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections. According to reports, Umeh said the NDC had candidates for all positions being contested in the election.
The development is significant as political parties begin strengthening their structures ahead of the 2027 polls. Having candidates across multiple constituencies could give the NDC a broader platform to compete at federal and state levels, while also testing the party’s organisational capacity outside its established areas of influence.
Umeh also outlined plans for the party’s presence at polling units nationwide. The NDC is reportedly planning to deploy party agents to polling units as part of efforts to monitor the electoral process and protect its votes.
The senator’s comments come at a time when Nigeria’s political landscape is increasingly shaped by emerging alliances and opposition movements seeking to challenge the dominance of the established political parties.
