President Bola Tinubu has officially commissioned the new headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Abuja, describing the project as a symbol of regional unity, cooperation, and shared prosperity among member states.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Tinubu said the new facility reflects ECOWAS’ commitment to strengthening regional integration, promoting economic development, and advancing peace and security across West Africa. He noted that Nigeria remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that foster collaboration and sustainable growth within the sub-region.
The President emphasized the importance of ECOWAS in addressing common challenges, including insecurity, trade barriers, economic development, and democratic governance. According to him, stronger regional institutions are essential for improving the lives of citizens and accelerating development across member countries.
Tinubu also commended the leadership of ECOWAS for its efforts in promoting political stability, conflict resolution, and economic cooperation. He expressed confidence that the new headquarters would enhance the organisation’s capacity to coordinate policies and implement programmes that benefit millions of people across West Africa.
The modern facility is expected to provide improved office space and infrastructure for ECOWAS officials while supporting the organisation’s expanding responsibilities in regional diplomacy, trade, and development.
