Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has broken her silence over viral reports claiming that she died in an accident, assuring fans that she is alive, healthy and safe.
The false reports circulated across social media on Sunday, September 6, causing concern among the actress’s followers. Kadiri subsequently addressed the claims through a video shared on her Instagram page, dismissing the reports as untrue.
“Please note that I am alive. I did not have any accident, and I am safe,” Kadiri said.
She also urged members of the public not to believe or circulate unverified reports about her wellbeing. Instead, the actress asked her followers to report social media accounts responsible for spreading the false information.
Kadiri said several accounts had apparently been created to circulate the same claim. In another part of her response, she expressed sadness over the lengths some individuals go to on social media to cause distress.
“I am really sad at the extent to which some people will go on this social media space to hurt and wish death on another person,” she said, adding that the situation was becoming “tiring and sad.”
The incident highlights the growing challenge of celebrity death hoaxes and unverified information on social media. Such reports can cause unnecessary panic among families, friends and fans while potentially damaging the reputation of public figures.
