A controversial investigative report published by Worldview International has accused several governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of allegedly diverting public funds to finance President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election campaign.
The report, titled “The Roll Call of Shame: Criminals in Power”, claimed that about 31 governors allegedly pooled approximately ₦800 billion from state allocations into a political funding structure linked to the “Renewed Hope Ambassador” platform.
According to the publication, the funds were allegedly deducted from monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocations to states and channelled toward political mobilization activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
The report alleged that Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), coordinated the arrangement and managed the financial structure associated with the deductions.
It further alleged that former Minister of Finance Wale Edun approved the deductions at source before his reported removal from office.
The publication also alleged that concerns emerged among governors over accountability and management of the funds, leading to internal disagreements within the Progressive Governors Forum.
According to the report, some governors reportedly demanded detailed financial records regarding the alleged expenditures, while others publicly expressed confidence in Uzodimma’s leadership.
The report claimed that the controversy escalated to the point where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu allegedly intervened to calm tensions among governors during an overseas trip.
Worldview International alleged that the matter has since attracted scrutiny from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), with questions reportedly being raised regarding authorization, management, and deployment of the funds.
The report listed several governors allegedly connected to the arrangement across different geopolitical zones, including governors from Lagos, Kaduna, Ogun, Imo, Kogi, Cross River, Niger, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, and other APC-controlled states.
However, as of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from the Presidency, the APC national leadership, or the governors named regarding the allegations contained in the publication.
The APC South-East chapter was quoted in the report as dismissing the allegations and describing the figures being circulated as unrealistic and politically motivated.
The publication further argued that the controversy has raised fresh concerns about transparency, accountability, and the use of public resources in Nigeria’s political system ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The report was authored by Kio Amachree, President of Worldview International, a Stockholm-based civic accountability and diaspora engagement platform focused on Nigerian governance issues.
