Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed deep concern over the worsening hunger situation in Northern Nigeria, calling for urgent and coordinated efforts to address food insecurity affecting millions of residents across the region.
In a statement, Obi said reports of increasing hunger and hardship were troubling and underscored the need for immediate intervention by all levels of government. He stressed that ensuring citizens have access to adequate food should remain a top national priority, particularly in communities facing insecurity, displacement, and economic hardship.
According to Obi, the growing cost of living, declining agricultural productivity, and persistent insecurity have combined to worsen the humanitarian situation in parts of Northern Nigeria.
