The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke following his re-election for a second term in the state governorship election.
The forum described Adeleke’s victory as a reflection of the confidence placed in him by Osun voters and acknowledged his achievements and personal qualities, which it said contributed to the outcome of the closely contested election.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement signed by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, chairman of the NGF and governor of Kwara State.
The governors also commended residents of Osun for their participation in the election, noting that the significant public interest surrounding the poll demonstrated the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic process.
The forum further recognised the contributions of the various political parties and candidates who participated in the election. It said their involvement remained important to strengthening democratic competition and political accountability.
Security agencies also received commendation from the governors for their role in maintaining order around the election period. The NGF noted that their efforts helped create conditions that allowed the election to proceed with limited incidents.
The forum’s message is significant as Adeleke prepares to begin another four-year tenure at a time when expectations for improved governance and development remain high across Osun State.
The NGF expressed confidence that the governor would build on the achievements of his first term and continue implementing policies focused on the welfare and development of Osun residents.
Adeleke secured his second term after defeating Bola Oyebamiji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the August 15 governorship election. His victory has generated reactions from political leaders across the country, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who also congratulated him and urged him to unite the people of the state.
Following the election, Adeleke called for reconciliation and urged his opponents to contribute ideas toward developing Osun.
With the electoral contest now concluded, attention is expected to shift toward Adeleke’s second-term agenda, delivery of campaign promises and efforts to promote inclusive governance across the state.
