Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday and Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna are set to face each other in a celebrity boxing bout after their recent social media disagreement attracted public attention.
The contest, tagged “Phyna vs Nkechi,” is scheduled for October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos as part of Balmoral Group Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series. The organisers have announced that the event will be broadcast on DAZN and SuperSport.
The announcement came shortly after the two entertainers exchanged words online. Nkechi had criticised Phyna over her frequent public confrontations, questioning her approach to disagreements on social media. Phyna subsequently responded and challenged the actress over why she had addressed her publicly.
Nkechi later shared promotional material for the boxing match and appeared confident ahead of the encounter.
“E don burst… put your money on me sha cus na sure odd. I no want talk too much till October 1st,” she wrote in an Instagram post announcing the fight.
The planned bout has generated reactions from entertainment followers, with attention focused on how the dispute has moved from social media exchanges to a scheduled live event. However, details such as the number of rounds and specific rules for the celebrity bout had not been announced by the organisers in reports reviewed.
The development is significant because celebrity boxing has increasingly become part of Nigeria’s entertainment landscape, combining popular personalities, live sporting events and social-media-driven rivalries.
Previous editions of the Chaos in the Ring series have featured entertainers including Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe. Carter Efe defeated Portable by unanimous decision in May, while Charles Okocha won their subsequent rematch in July.
