Media personality Nedu Wazobia has stirred online conversations after commenting on what he described as the prevalence of “sugar mummy” relationships in Abuja.
Speaking in a video interview with content creator Ludahydrate, Nedu claimed that Abuja serves as the centre of what he referred to as the country’s “sugar mummy industry,” describing it as a widespread social phenomenon. The remark was presented as his personal opinion during the discussion.
Responding to the comment, Ludahydrate offered his own explanation for why he believes such relationships are more common in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the content creator, the presence of affluent residents, including politicians and public office holders, has contributed to a situation where some divorced women become financially independent through divorce settlements and business ownership.
He suggested that some of these women may prefer casual relationships rather than remarrying, leading to the rise of younger male partners, often referred to as “sugar boys.”
