Labour Party Disowns Abure’s Nomination Forms, Declares Them “Worthless Papers”

The leadership of the Labour Party has issued a strong disclaimer distancing itself from nomination forms allegedly being distributed by former national chairman Julius Abure, describing the exercise as an illegal and fraudulent operation.
In a press release signed by Ken Eluma Asogwa on May 17, 2026, the party warned members, supporters and aspirants that any nomination form obtained from Abure or any unauthorized source is “worthless paper sold by a serial political scammer.”
The statement followed the circulation of social media images allegedly showing Abure presenting what he described as Labour Party nomination forms to some individuals in Abia State.
According to the party, the only recognized National Chairman of the Labour Party remains Nenadi Usman, adding that all legitimate nomination forms for the 2027 general elections can only be obtained from the party’s official National Secretariat in Utako, Abuja.
The party further cautioned the public against dealing with unauthorized persons claiming to represent the party, stressing that desperate political actors were attempting to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.
The statement also questioned why Abure’s alleged activities were concentrated in Abia State, insisting that Alex Otti, described as the national leader of the party, would not succumb to intimidation or political blackmail.
Labour Party further accused Abure of impersonating the office of the National Chairman, describing the act as a criminal offence with serious legal implications.
“As the law gradually closes in on the former LP chairman,” the statement noted, “the net is steadily tightening around him and, sooner than later, he will answer for his actions before law enforcement authorities and the courts.”
