Concerned members and loyal stakeholders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have called on the party leadership to remain vigilant against what they described as an attempt by former APC elements to infiltrate and hijack the party structure ahead of future elections.
The group warned that individuals defecting from the ruling APC into NDC may be carrying the same political culture, practices, and mindset that Nigerians have long rejected, stressing that the party must not allow itself to become a refuge for political opportunists seeking personal gain.
According to them, the experience of the 2023 general elections under the Labour Party should serve as a lesson, noting that system hijackers and career politicians allegedly weakened the internal strength and unity of the movement.
They maintained that genuine NDC members and aspirants who have remained committed to building the party from the beginning — especially those who never had ties with APC — deserve priority consideration and a fair platform to contest for positions.
The stakeholders emphasized that loyalty, consistency, sacrifice, and dedication to the ideals of the party must be respected and rewarded, rather than sidelined for newcomers with questionable political intentions.
They further insisted that the NDC must remain a people-driven movement focused on national transformation, integrity, and credible leadership, not a political shelter for recycled politicians seeking another route to power.
“NDC belongs to genuine party faithful and committed reformers, not individuals looking for another platform to advance selfish political ambitions,” the statement concluded.Fresh Allegations Emerge Over Alleged Imposition of APC-Linked Aspirants in NDC
Concerns continue to mount within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as party loyalists intensify calls for the leadership to resist alleged attempts by APC-linked politicians to infiltrate and hijack the party structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
Stakeholders warned that the party must not repeat what they described as the political mistakes witnessed in previous opposition movements, insisting that only committed and verified party faithful should be allowed to emerge as candidates under the NDC platform.
A concerned party stakeholder based in the United States alleged that some individuals who previously participated in APC activities are now being positioned for NDC tickets despite questions surrounding their eligibility.
According to the source, information allegedly reaching party members suggests that certain aspirants may have been promised tickets even before the completion of screening and primaries.
The stakeholder further claimed that one of the individuals allegedly being considered for a House of Representatives ticket in Aniocha/Oshimili had previously participated in APC primaries and may not have officially joined NDC before the party membership register was submitted to INEC on May 8, 2026.
The source also alleged that conversations with individuals linked to the APC indicated that decisions regarding some NDC tickets may already have been influenced behind the scenes, raising fears among loyal party members over possible external interference.
The stakeholder warned that allowing candidates who allegedly failed to meet party requirements could expose the party to legal disputes and post-primary litigation.
It was further argued that the NDC is not desperate for candidates and should prioritize loyalty, credibility, consistency, and compliance with party guidelines over political influence or external connections.
Party faithful maintained that NDC’s credibility ahead of the 2027 elections depends largely on its ability to resist imposition, protect party integrity, and ensure that all aspirants emerge through a transparent, fair, and lawful process.
They emphasized that the party belongs to committed reformers and genuine grassroots members who have remained loyal to the movement from the beginning, not to political opportunists seeking another platform for personal ambition.
