Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for a third term in office during the party’s primary election in Plateau State.
According to results announced by the returning officer, Dr. John Tongshinen overwhelmingly defeated Gagdi in the APC primary election conducted across the constituency.
Reports indicated that Tongshinen polled 29,968 votes, while Gagdi secured 5,849 votes. Another aspirant, John Pia, reportedly scored 51 votes.
The result marks a major political setback for Gagdi, who currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Navy and had sought a return to the National Assembly for another term under the APC platform.
Political observers described the outcome as one of the biggest upsets recorded during the APC House of Representatives primaries across the country, especially considering Gagdi’s influence within Plateau politics and the National Assembly.
