Social commentator and political activist Isaac Fayose has called on Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to encourage governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform to contribute N500 million monthly towards supporting vulnerable Nigerians facing economic difficulties.
Fayose made the appeal while speaking on the need for stronger social intervention programmes to reduce the impact of rising living costs on citizens. He argued that state governments have a responsibility to provide additional support for low-income families, especially amid ongoing economic challenges affecting millions of Nigerians.
According to Fayose, a coordinated monthly contribution from APC governors could provide financial assistance, food support, healthcare aid, and other forms of relief to struggling households across the country. He urged the First Lady to use her influence to promote the initiative as part of efforts to complement existing government welfare programmes.
The activist said political leaders must demonstrate compassion and accountability by taking practical steps to improve the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians. He maintained that direct support for vulnerable communities would help ease the burden faced by families dealing with inflation and increased costs of essential goods and services.
Fayose’s comments come amid continued public discussions about government responses to economic hardship and the effectiveness of current poverty reduction measures. Nigerians have increasingly called for stronger social safety nets, improved job opportunities, and policies aimed at reducing financial pressure on households.
