Kano — Fatima Naseer Teemahcool, Chairperson of the Gida-Gida TikTokers group, has been appointed to a political position in Kano State local government administration, weeks after she came under public scrutiny over a controversial incident during the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s visit to Kano State.
Teemahcool, who led a group of social media influencers that staged a widely criticized underwear display during the high-profile visit, has now been assigned a role reportedly linked to women affairs at the local government level.
The development has sparked mixed reactions across social and political circles, with some observers questioning the timing and optics of the appointment, while others view it as a routine inclusion of young political actors in governance structures.
The incident that brought her into the public spotlight had previously drawn widespread condemnation and debate over decorum, political messaging, and the role of influencer groups in official state events.
As of press time, the Kano State government has not issued a detailed statement explaining the criteria behind the appointment.
The matter continues to generate discussion on social media, particularly around accountability, political reward systems, and youth participation in governance.
