Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has rejected reports suggesting that he has resigned from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing the claim as false and warning that legal action could follow.
The minister reportedly reacted to the resignation speculation while addressing the information circulating about his position in the federal cabinet. He maintained that he remains in office and challenged those responsible for spreading the report to provide evidence to support their claims.
“I will sue whoever said I resigned,” the minister was quoted as saying, signalling his intention to pursue legal action against anyone he believes deliberately circulated the information.
The development has attracted attention because the position of Defence Minister is central to Nigeria’s national security structure. Any reported change in the leadership of the ministry could have implications for ongoing government efforts to tackle terrorism, banditry, insurgency and other security threats across the country.
