Dr. Yunusa Tanko has stepped down as the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement following his appointment as Special Adviser on Northern Nigeria to Peter Obi.
The development was announced by Maazi Ezeoke, headmaster of the Village Boys Movement, who described the transition as a new chapter for the movement.
According to Ezeoke, Dr. Moses Paul has assumed the position of National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement following Tanko’s new appointment.
Ezeoke congratulated both leaders on their respective assignments, stressing that the leadership transition would not alter the movement’s broader objectives.
“Leadership may change, but the mission remains the same: building a better Nigeria and advancing the cause of good governance,” Ezeoke said.
Tanko has been one of the prominent figures associated with the Obidient Movement, particularly in coordinating its activities and mobilising supporters around Peter Obi’s political agenda.
His appointment as Special Adviser on Northern Nigeria is expected to see him take on a more formal role focused on engagement and political issues concerning the northern region.
With Moses Paul taking over as National Coordinator, attention will now shift to the new leadership and how it intends to coordinate the movement’s structures and activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The transition comes as supporters of Peter Obi and the wider Obidient Movement continue to mobilise around their stated objective of promoting good governance and political change in Nigeria.
