COPDEM Postpones NDC Mobilisation Summit in Anambra

The Coalition for Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has announced the postponement of its proposed Mobilisation Summit for the Nigeria Democratic Coalition (NDC), earlier scheduled to hold on May 26, 2026, in Awka, Anambra State.
In a letter dated May 25, 2026, and addressed to the National Chairman of the NDC, the coalition explained that the decision was necessitated by the tight schedule surrounding the ongoing screening of NDC aspirants across the country.
According to the statement signed by the National Secretary of COPDEM, the summit will now hold after the completion of the aspirants’ screening exercise, with a new date to be communicated in due course.
Despite the postponement, the coalition disclosed that Wednesday, May 26, 2026, has been converted into a Mobilisation Strategy Meeting involving all COPDEM Local Government Area Chairmen.
The meeting, according to insiders within the movement, is expected to focus on grassroots coordination, voter mobilisation strategies, and strengthening the coalition’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
COPDEM further expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the postponement and appreciated stakeholders for their understanding and continued support.
Political observers note that the development underscores the growing synergy between pro-democracy groups and emerging political movements seeking broader national participation ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Signed:
National Secretary
Coalition for Protection of Democracy (COPDEM)
