Burna Boy and Shakira have achieved a historic chart feat as their collaborative single “Dai Dai” becomes the highest-charting FIFA World Cup song on the Billboard Hot 100.
The track jumped 25 positions on the latest chart to reach No. 17, surpassing the previous benchmark set by Shakira and Freshlyground’s “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Beyond its success in the United States, “Dai Dai” also recorded strong performances in other major markets. The song climbed to No. 3 on the Canadian Hot 100 and is currently in contention for the top spot on the UK Official Singles Chart.
The latest achievement adds to Burna Boy’s growing list of international accomplishments and further strengthens the global appeal of Afrobeats through high-profile collaborations.
Separately, Billboard has officially ended publication of its World Digital Song Sales chart, with the final edition released on June 27, 2026. The chart had tracked the commercial performance of songs from international markets, including Nigeria, Asia, the Caribbean, and South Africa.
Before its discontinuation, Nigerian artistes such as Wizkid, Mr Eazi, and Rema had all reached the summit of the World Digital Song Sales chart, reflecting the increasing global success of Nigerian music.
The performance of “Dai Dai” underscores the continued international growth of African music and the impact of cross-cultural collaborations on global music charts.
