Nigerian social media personality Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has confirmed the death of her second son, Bryan, while she remains in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.
The development emerged after Amira Agiye, Chief Executive Officer of the Isaamira Love Foundation, publicly announced the death and appealed for financial assistance for Blessing CEO. However, Blessing later clarified that she did not authorise anyone to solicit money on her behalf.
In a voice conversation circulated publicly, Blessing confirmed the loss and said her son had been full of life. “While in custody, I lost Bryan,” she said, adding that she hoped to secure her release so she could pay her respects to him.
The situation has attracted widespread attention because Blessing CEO remains detained while dealing with the personal loss. The circumstances surrounding Bryan’s death have not been publicly established by authorities, and reports about the cause of death remain unconfirmed.
The controversy surrounding the fundraising appeal has added another dimension to the story. Agiye initially said about N20 million was required to meet Blessing’s bail conditions, with another N36 million reportedly needed to address financial claims. Blessing subsequently denied authorising the appeal and said she had not given anyone consent to raise funds in her name.
Blessing CEO has been in custody in connection with an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) case involving an alleged N69.15 million property fraud. She pleaded not guilty and was granted N20 million bail in July, subject to conditions she has reportedly yet to satisfy.
The reported death of her son comes amid her ongoing legal proceedings and has renewed public discussion about her detention and efforts to secure her release. Her case is expected to continue in court as she addresses the allegations against her while coping with the loss of her son.
