Nigerian singer and Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) signee, Logos Olori, has offered insight into the motivation behind his label boss, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, saying the Afrobeats star’s commitment to music goes beyond financial gain.
Olori made the remarks during a recent episode of the Wahala Podcast, where he discussed Davido’s work ethic, passion for music and the competitive nature of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
According to the singer, Davido continues to approach his career with the determination of an artiste who is not driven primarily by the money generated from music. Olori said he believes competition and passion are major factors behind the singer’s consistency.
“Davido works like he doesn’t have money. I feel like the competition drives him. He is very passionate. I don’t think he needs music money; he just does it for fun,” Olori said.
The comments have drawn attention because of Davido’s long-standing position in the global Afrobeats scene and his continued release of music despite his established commercial success.
Olori also discussed how his relationship with Davido influenced his own career. He revealed that his contribution to the writing of Davido’s hit song Unavailable helped bring him to the singer’s attention and eventually led to his signing with DMW.
The young artiste further disclosed that he had been living comfortably in Dubai before deciding to return to Nigeria and pursue music more seriously. His move eventually coincided with opportunities that expanded his presence within the Nigerian music industry.
The remarks are significant as they highlight the role of creative passion, competition and mentorship in Nigeria’s increasingly global music industry. Davido has also previously spoken about maintaining his passion for music after years in the industry, saying in a 2026 interview that he would not have sustained a 15-year career if money alone had been his motivation.
Olori remains part of the newer generation of artistes associated with DMW, having released music under the label while building his own identity within the Afrobeats scene.
