Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law, introducing a new legal framework for the administration of motor parks and transport-related activities across the state.
Adeleke signed the legislation on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Government House in Osogbo. The governor described the new law as a major step towards modernising the state’s transport system and improving the experience of commuters and transport operators.
While signing the bill, Adeleke said he was convinced that the legislation offered a solution to longstanding challenges within Osun’s transportation park system. He also assured stakeholders that implementation would begin immediately and that the interests of residents and other stakeholders would be accommodated.
The legislation provides for an integrated system covering the regulation, registration, management and digital administration of commercial transportation, motor parks, garages, loading points and related infrastructure.
One of its key provisions is the introduction of digitalised ticketing, which is intended to eliminate multiple ticketing practices, reduce burdens on transport operators and improve transparency in revenue collection. The law also seeks to strengthen passenger protection and promote accountability within the transport sector.
The development is significant because the new law comes amid recent disputes and violence linked to the control and management of motor parks in Osun. The state government had previously suspended activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers and announced plans to establish a new park management structure following deadly incidents associated with park leadership disputes.
The bill was passed by the Osun State House of Assembly on September 23 before being forwarded to the governor for assent. Assembly Speaker Adewale Egbedun said the lawmakers followed the required legislative procedures in processing the legislation.
With the governor’s assent, attention now shifts to implementation and whether the new framework will improve safety, transparency, revenue administration and order in Osun’s motor parks while reducing disputes among transport stakeholders.
