The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Federal Government to establish an independent judicial panel to investigate the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
In a statement, the opposition party urged the appropriate authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the allegations and examine the roles of several individuals and institutions mentioned in connection with the controversy. The ADC argued that a transparent inquiry is necessary to establish the facts and strengthen public confidence in government institutions.
According to the party, the issues surrounding the purported agency have generated significant public interest and require an impartial investigation to determine whether any laws or administrative procedures were violated. It maintained that all persons and institutions connected to the allegations should be given the opportunity to present their positions during the inquiry.
The PFIPC controversy has remained a subject of national debate following allegations relating to the agency’s purported operations, financial activities, and appointments. The Presidency has previously stated that the PFIPC is not a recognised government agency, while calls for further clarification and investigation have continued from political stakeholders and civil society groups.
The ADC stressed that a judicial inquiry would help promote transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law. The party added that any findings should be made public and that any individual found culpable, if wrongdoing is established, should be held accountable through the appropriate legal process.
The party’s demand has drawn mixed reactions across the political landscape. While opposition figures have backed the call for an independent investigation, supporters of the administration insist that any allegations should be handled by the relevant investigative and law enforcement agencies based on credible evidence.
