The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has continued its nationwide voter mobilization campaign as part of efforts to encourage eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In Kaduna State, Mr. John Yusuf Gimba led a team of COPDEM mobilisers in an ongoing grassroots sensitization and voter registration awareness exercise aimed at increasing citizen participation in the electoral process.
According to the group, the initiative is designed to encourage well-meaning Nigerians, particularly young people and first-time voters, to take advantage of voter registration opportunities and prepare to actively participate in shaping the country’s democratic future.
The mobilization campaign forms part of COPDEM’s broader nationwide strategy to deepen democratic participation, promote civic responsibility, and ensure that more citizens are equipped to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Speaking during the outreach, members of the team emphasized the importance of obtaining a PVC, describing it as a critical tool for citizens seeking to influence governance and hold elected leaders accountable through the ballot box.
The exercise in Kaduna is one of several similar engagements being conducted across the country as COPDEM continues to expand its voter education and civic engagement activities ahead of the next election cycle.
Political observers note that early voter mobilization efforts by civic and political advocacy groups could play a significant role in increasing voter turnout and strengthening democratic participation in 2027.
As preparations for the next general elections gradually gather pace, COPDEM says it remains committed to encouraging Nigerians to register, collect their PVCs, and participate actively in the democratic process.
