Report:
Lagos — Nigerian public commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked fresh debate after releasing a video lamenting the state of the economy, claiming that worsening poverty has significantly reduced activity on usually busy Lagos roads.
Speaking while driving through the city, Fayose alleged that many Nigerians have been forced to abandon the use of their vehicles due to the rising cost of living, particularly fuel prices and general economic hardship. He described the situation as dire, arguing that everyday life has become increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens.
In a strongly worded statement, Fayose called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign, asserting that current policies have deepened economic struggles. He also urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to take decisive action, including initiating impeachment proceedings, to “save Nigeria.”
Beyond economic concerns, Fayose expressed a lack of confidence in key national institutions, alleging that both the judiciary and electoral body have lost credibility. His remarks reflect a growing wave of public frustration as Nigerians continue to grapple with inflation, high transportation costs, and declining purchasing power.
While his claims about empty roads remain subjective and unverified, the video has nonetheless amplified ongoing conversations about economic hardship and governance, with mixed reactions from the public and political stakeholders.
