Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyebade, popularly known as Mo Bimpe, has responded to social media critics who questioned her interaction with fellow actor Jide Awobona at a recent movie premiere.
A short video recorded at the September 2, 2026 premiere of A Mama Deola Wedding Story in Lagos showed Mo Bimpe seated between Awobona and her husband, actor Lateef Adedimeji. The actress appeared to lean on Awobona’s shoulder while showing him something on her phone.
The clip quickly attracted attention online, with some social media users scrutinising the interaction and speculating about Adedimeji’s reaction.
Responding through her Instagram Story, Mo Bimpe said the reaction reflected assumptions about relationships rather than the reality of her marriage. She maintained that trust and confidence could allow married people to maintain friendships without unnecessary suspicion.
“Not every marriage is built on fear, insecurity, and constant monitoring. Some marriages are built on trust, friendship, respect, and confidence,” she said.
She added: “Not every marriage is toxic, there are still healthy marriages but I understand if you can’t relate.”
The actress also defended her husband, describing him as a secure man who was not threatened by her friendship with Awobona.
“My husband is a secure man, a brief conversation with a family friend does not threaten our marriage, or require anyone’s concern,” she said.
The controversy highlights how brief moments involving celebrities can quickly become subjects of public scrutiny, particularly when relationships and marriage are involved.
