Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has alleged that false rumours circulated by some of his former associates led to the deterioration of his relationship with Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy.
Speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Shatta Wale said he hosted Burna Boy during one of the Nigerian artist’s visits to Ghana, providing accommodation, transportation, and other support throughout his stay.
According to Shatta Wale, the relationship changed after he parted ways with some members of his former team, whom he accused of spreading false claims to people close to him.
The singer alleged that the individuals told Burna Boy he had been involved in a romantic relationship with Burna Boy’s girlfriend during the visit to Ghana. Shatta Wale said the allegation was untrue but claimed it affected their friendship.
He further stated that he made several attempts to contact Burna Boy after the Nigerian singer’s international career gained momentum but received no response to his calls or messages.
Shatta Wale also claimed he reached out to Burna Boy’s mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, in an effort to reconnect with the artist, but said his efforts were unsuccessful.
Despite the situation, the Ghanaian musician said he remains pleased with Burna Boy’s achievements on the global music stage. However, he expressed disappointment that he was unable to personally address what he described as false allegations before the relationship deteriorated.
Neither Burna Boy nor his management has publicly responded to Shatta Wale’s claims at the time of reporting.
