2026 Ballon d’Or: Dembélé Names Kvaratskhelia, Kane and Mbappé as Top Picks

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé has named his top three choices to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé making his list.

Dembélé revealed his selections in an interview with France Football as attention builds ahead of this year’s prestigious individual football award. The Frenchman, who won the 2025 Ballon d’Or, notably left himself out of the conversation.

Asked about his own chances, Dembélé said: “Me? Oh no, I never put myself in such matters.”

The 29-year-old instead highlighted three players he believes have strong claims to succeed him. His selection includes PSG teammate Kvaratskhelia, Bayern Munich striker Kane and Real Madrid forward Mbappé.

Dembélé’s choices are significant because the three players have enjoyed prominent campaigns and are among the names attracting attention in the 2026 Ballon d’Or race. Kane, in particular, has emerged as one of the leading contenders following a prolific season with Bayern Munich and an impressive World Cup campaign.

The Ballon d’Or is awarded annually to the player judged to have produced the strongest overall individual performance. The voting considers individual achievements, team success and sporting qualities.

The 2026 ceremony is scheduled for October 26 in London, marking the first time the English capital will host the event. The award will consider performances from August 1, 2025, through July 31, 2026, including the 2025/26 club season and the 2026 World Cup.
