Ycee Condemns APC Over Insecurity, Urges Nigerians to Vote

Nigerian rapper and singer Ycee has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the state of insecurity and governance in the country, accusing the current and previous administrations of failing to adequately address the challenges facing Nigerians.

Speaking during a live stream with comedian and content creator Carter Efe on Thursday night, Ycee expressed frustration over the continued cases of kidnapping, attacks on schools, and the general state of the nation.

The artist described the situation as heartbreaking, particularly the recurring abduction of children and attacks on educational institutions, questioning how Nigeria could produce future leaders when many young people are unable to learn in a safe environment.

“It is sad that in 2026, children are still being kidnapped and schools are still being attacked,” Ycee said during the conversation, stressing that education should be protected as the foundation for national development.

The musician blamed the APC-led government for what he described as poor performance in tackling insecurity and improving the welfare of citizens. He argued that successive administrations under the party had not met the expectations of many Nigerians.

His comments come amid growing public concern over cases of banditry, kidnapping, and violent attacks in several parts of the country, including recent incidents involving the abduction of students and teachers in states such as Oyo and attacks in communities affected by insurgency and criminal violence.

Beyond security concerns, Ycee also spoke about the broader economic difficulties facing citizens, including the rising cost of living and the struggle of many families to meet their daily needs.

The singer urged Nigerians, especially young voters, to actively participate in the 2027 general elections by registering, obtaining their voter credentials, and using the ballot to influence the country’s political direction.

According to him, meaningful change requires civic participation rather than political apathy.

During the live session, Ycee also suggested that his political convictions could influence his professional relationships, hinting that he might avoid collaborations with artists he considers closely associated with the APC.

The remarks have sparked discussions on social media, with some Nigerians applauding the singer for using his platform to speak on national issues, while others criticized his comments and defended the government’s efforts in addressing security and economic challenges.

Political analysts note that celebrities have increasingly become influential voices in Nigeria’s political discourse, using their large audiences to draw attention to governance, social justice, and electoral participation.

However, they also point out that public reactions to celebrity political commentary often mirror the deep political divisions within the country.

As Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 elections, debates surrounding insecurity, economic reforms, and government performance are expected to remain at the center of political campaigns and public discussions.

Ycee’s intervention adds to the growing number of public figures demanding greater accountability from political leaders and encouraging citizens to play an active role in shaping the country’s democratic future.
