Wande Coal, Davido Clash Over Shelved Collaboration ‘Come My Way’

Nigerian music stars Wande Coal and Davido have exchanged words publicly over a collaboration that never made it to official release, reigniting interest in their unreleased version of “Come My Way.”

The disagreement followed comments by Davido during a recent podcast appearance, where the singer explained why his verse did not appear on the track. According to Davido, Wande Coal had approached him to contribute to the song, after which he recorded a verse.

Davido said the project later stalled because the two artistes had different expectations about how the collaboration should be released. He claimed Wande Coal planned to release the original song first and subsequently add his contribution as a remix.

Wande Coal subsequently challenged Davido’s account in a post on X, insisting that the song already had a release plan and date before their disagreement.

“Song wey no be your own you wan dictate release plan,” Wande Coal wrote, questioning why Davido should determine the rollout of a song he owned.

The singer also stressed that “Come My Way” performed successfully without Davido’s contribution, adding another dimension to the disagreement.

The exchange has attracted considerable attention from fans because both musicians are established figures in Nigeria’s music industry. Davido has built a global career through Afrobeats and international collaborations, while Wande Coal remains one of the influential voices from an earlier generation of Nigerian popular music.

The controversy is significant because disagreements over collaborations can involve creative control, release strategies and expectations between artistes. In this case, conflicting accounts from the two singers have left fans debating what prevented the highly anticipated collaboration from reaching the public.

“Come My Way” was released by Wande Coal in 2021 and later became part of his Legend or No Legend album. A snippet featuring Davido’s unreleased contribution had previously generated excitement among listeners.

For now, the Davido-assisted version remains unreleased, while the public exchange between the two artistes continues to fuel speculation about whether fans will ever hear the collaboration officially.
