The legal dispute between former Big Brother Naija stars Sheggz and Bella Okagbue has taken another turn, with Sheggz’s lawyers presenting financial records they say challenge claims surrounding money during their relationship.
According to the legal team, an examination of Sheggz’s UK bank account showed that about £220,000 of his personal funds was spent in the course of his relationship with Bella. The claim was contained in the lawyers’ response to allegations raised by Bella’s representatives.
Sheggz’s lawyers reportedly described him as the main financial provider during the relationship, while acknowledging that Bella had her own income and also contributed financially.
The legal representatives further claimed that Sheggz paid for accommodation for Bella after she left the Big Brother Naija house. They said he rented a property for her for approximately two months at a reported rate of £3,500 per month.
The financial disclosure comes amid a wider dispute involving allegations about money, loans, marriage promises and statements made following the collapse of the couple’s four-year relationship.
Bella’s lawyers have reportedly alleged that Sheggz obtained several loans from their client under false pretences and indicated that they were prepared to pursue the matter through the courts. However, those allegations remain contested and have not been established by a court.
The latest response from Sheggz’s legal team appears intended to provide a different account of the couple’s financial arrangements and demonstrate that their client also incurred substantial expenses during the relationship.
The dispute has attracted significant attention because Sheggz and Bella became one of the most popular couples from the 2022 edition of Big Brother Naija. They continued their relationship after leaving the reality show and remained in the public eye for several years.
With both sides now presenting competing claims through their lawyers, the financial issues surrounding the breakup could become a key part of any future legal proceedings.
For now, the allegations remain disputed, and any determination regarding loans, financial obligations or defamation would ultimately depend on evidence presented through the appropriate legal process.
