Anambra State ADC repel party hijack through the backdoor

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: March 3, 2026

The (ADC) Anambra State Chapter has raised alarm over what it described as deliberate attempts by certain individuals to destabilize the party’s structure.

In an official press statement issued by the State Executive Committee and signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Patrick Obianyo, the party leadership condemned the emergence of what it termed “illegal parallel structures,” particularly a group allegedly operating under the name “MRMR.” The committee stated that the current State Executive remains the only duly recognized authority overseeing ADC affairs in the state and warned that any attempt to operate outside the constitutional framework of the party constitutes a violation of its rules.

The statement further alleged that some individuals from other political parties were attempting to hijack the ADC structure in the state without formally resigning from their previous affiliations. The party described such actors as “political tourists,” insisting that membership and leadership within the ADC must follow established constitutional procedures. According to the Executive Committee, the party will not tolerate any effort to bypass due process for personal political advantage.

Addressing financial concerns, the ADC leadership disclosed that it had received reports of individuals allegedly using private bank accounts to collect funds in the name of the party. The committee clarified that the Anambra State chapter maintains an official bank account for all legitimate party transactions and warned that no individual or group is authorized to collect money into personal accounts for party activities. It described such actions as fraudulent and subject to disciplinary measures.

The party also reaffirmed that the State Chairman and the recognized Executive Committee are the sole custodians of all party properties, materials, membership cards, and registers within the state. It cautioned that no individual is permitted to bypass the state leadership to obtain official materials from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, stressing that any unauthorized procurement or distribution of party materials would be considered null and void.

Despite the internal tensions, the ADC leadership reiterated that its doors remain open to Nigerians genuinely interested in reform and good governance. The party noted that its membership registration remains active online and encouraged interested individuals to join through its official platform.

The State Executive Committee urged members and the general public to disregard any directives not issued by the duly recognized state leadership, emphasizing its commitment to protecting the integrity, unity, and constitutional order of the party in Anambra State.
