Peter Obi Donates ₦15 Million to School of Nursing Sciences

Former Anambra State Governor and 2027 presidential candidate of the NDC, Peter Obi, has donated ₦15 million to the School of Nursing Sciences at Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku, in Owerri, Imo State, as part of his ongoing support for education and healthcare institutions across Nigeria.

During his visit, Obi met with the institution’s management, staff, and students, where he emphasized the critical role of healthcare professionals in national development. He encouraged the nursing students to remain committed to their studies, noting that healthcare remains one of humanity’s most essential needs and that the world requires their services.

Addressing the students, Obi stressed that countries seeking sustainable development must prioritize investments in education and the training of healthcare workers, describing them as indispensable to the well-being and productivity of society.

The former governor also inspected the institution’s computer laboratory, which he had previously supported, expressing satisfaction with the progress made since his earlier intervention. He noted that witnessing the improvements reinforced his belief that consistent investment in educational and healthcare institutions yields lasting benefits.

Obi reflected on his previous support for institutions such as Iyi-Enu and Borromeo hospitals, observing that both have since evolved into teaching hospitals. He expressed optimism that Holy Rosary Hospital could achieve similar growth through sustained investment and institutional development.

He reiterated his vision of a Nigeria where functional institutions produce skilled professionals, public resources are directed toward critical sectors such as education and healthcare, and every child has an equal opportunity to succeed regardless of background.

According to Obi, meaningful investments in human capital remain the most effective path to reducing poverty, improving national productivity, and building a more prosperous society.

The visit forms part of his continuing nationwide outreach to educational and healthcare institutions, where he has consistently advocated greater investment in human development as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s long-term progress.

He concluded by reaffirming his belief that with the right priorities and leadership, a better Nigeria remains achievable.
