Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has continued his post-election engagements in Abuja, visiting Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, shortly after securing another term in office.
Adeleke met Wike on Thursday, August 20, following an earlier visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. During the meeting with the FCT minister, the governor and Wike were photographed together holding Adeleke’s Certificate of Return.
The encounter has attracted political attention because it came just days after the Osun governorship election and amid growing discussions about political relationships ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adeleke’s meeting with Wike was part of a series of engagements following his electoral victory. While details of their discussion were not publicly disclosed, the visit provided an opportunity for the governor to interact with one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures.
Earlier the same day, Adeleke met with President Tinubu and presented his Certificate of Return to him. The governor said he visited the President to express appreciation for what he described as the administration’s role in allowing the electoral process to proceed freely.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the August 15 election after he polled 511,067 votes, defeating All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who recorded 444,815 votes. Adeleke won in 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas.
INEC formally presented Adeleke with his Certificate of Return on August 19, confirming his re-election mandate.
The governor’s Abuja engagements come as attention shifts from the election campaign to governance and reconciliation. Adeleke has called for unity in Osun, while his meetings with senior political figures highlight the broader political relationships that could become increasingly important as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections.
