Lawyers representing Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as OdumoduBlvck, have petitioned the Lagos State Police Command over an alleged attempt to arrest the musician in the early hours of August 29, 2026.
The petition, filed by Marshal Attorneys on August 31 and addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department, called for an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
According to the legal team, police officers reportedly arrived at the rapper’s location at about 3am carrying an invitation letter purportedly issued by the Lagos State Police Command.
The lawyers described the development as concerning, particularly because they said their client’s representatives had already responded to an earlier police invitation.
“On the 29th of August, 2026 at about 3:00am, officers of the Nigerian Police Force purportedly acting on your Command swooped on our Client with an invitation letter purportedly issued by your good self,” the lawyers stated.
They further claimed that the Inspector General of Police’s office was already handling the matter through its Monitoring Unit. The lawyers also pointed out that a related case was pending before an Abuja Magistrate Court, arguing that the existence of the court proceedings should be considered in determining how any further police investigation is handled.
The legal team subsequently asked the Lagos Police Command to investigate what happened and clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged late-night action. They also urged the command to defer to the IGP’s office, which they said was already handling the matter.
The controversy is significant because it comes amid an ongoing dispute involving OdumoduBlvck, record label Chocolate City and allegations that police action has been used against the rapper. In June, the musician accused Chocolate City of repeatedly attempting to have him arrested, allegations the label denied, saying it had no authority to order anyone’s arrest.
OdumoduBlvck has remained outspoken about the dispute, while the latest petition places the alleged arrest attempt under formal legal scrutiny.
The rapper, whose real name is Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, is one of Nigeria’s prominent contemporary hip-hop acts, known for his energetic style and growing international profile. The latest development could further shape the legal and professional dispute surrounding his relationship with Chocolate City.
