Odogwu Asaba Remanded as Court Advances Case Over Alleged Rape, Death of 20-Year-Old

A Delta State High Court has ordered the remand of content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, over allegations surrounding the alleged rape and subsequent death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.

The court granted the remand application on Friday, September 4, 2026, following the conclusion of investigations into the case. Ogbonna was taken to the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre, where he will remain as the legal proceedings continue.

Counsel to Favour’s family, Awele Ideal, confirmed the development and said autopsy and toxicology results had been released to the police investigation team. She added that the forensic findings and other evidence gathered during the investigation had been incorporated into the case file prepared for prosecution.

“Today the 4/9/2026, the application to remand Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Odogwu Asaba) was heard and granted by the Court,” Ideal said.

The case reportedly began after Favour travelled to Asaba following an invitation linked to a content-creation training programme. Police investigations alleged that she was taken to a hotel, where she accused Ogbonna of rape and physical assault.

After returning home, Favour reportedly informed her parents about the alleged incident and recorded a video recounting her experience. Police said she later ingested a toxic substance and died despite efforts to save her life.
