Matter of Urgent National Importance: An Open Letter to the NDC National Leadership

As the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms gradually draws to a close, it has become imperative to draw the attention of the National Leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to the undeniable realities confronting our people, especially aspirants from the Middle Belt and Northern regions of Nigeria.

Today, many communities across these regions are battling persistent insecurity, terrorism, banditry, displacement, and severe economic hardship. These challenges have not only disrupted livelihoods and businesses but have also greatly weakened the financial capacity of many credible and committed aspirants who sincerely desire to serve under the banner of our great party.

In view of these realities, it is only fair and patriotic for the leadership of the party to make special and consensual considerations for aspirants from the Middle Belt and Northern extraction to encourage wider participation and inclusiveness ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The NDC was founded on the principles of justice, equity, inclusion, and national unity. Therefore, no region or group should be indirectly excluded from participation due to circumstances beyond their control.

It is also important to emphasize that candidate selection within the party should not be based solely on financial strength, but must be premised on character, capacity, competency, credibility, and compassion. These are the true qualities required to build a people-oriented leadership and restore the confidence of Nigerians in governance.

On this note, I respectfully call on the National Leader of the NDC, , Presidential hopeful , and Dr. to take a realistic and compassionate look into this matter by considering a 70% discount on nomination forms for affected aspirants, or alternatively sponsoring credible placeholders to represent the party in the 2027 elections.

Such a decision will not only deepen democracy within the party but will also strengthen the NDC’s grassroots acceptance and national spread as we collectively work towards achieving the vision of “NDC Top2Bottom.”

History will remember leaders who stood for inclusion, fairness, and national balance in difficult times.

Thank you.
