A delegation of prominent Igbo leaders under the umbrella of the Igbo Elders Consultative Forum has reaffirmed its support for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Obi/Kwankwaso political movement during a solidarity visit to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at his residence in Abuja.
The high-powered delegation was led by Dr. S. N. Okeke, Chairman of the Ohanaeze Council of Elders, and was accompanied by former Enugu State Governor Okwesilieze Nwodo.
According to Kwankwaso, the elders expressed appreciation for the growing political partnership between him and Peter Obi within the NDC framework. The delegation reportedly pledged unwavering support for the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket and assured the movement of substantial electoral backing across the South-East and other parts of Southern Nigeria ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The visit underscored ongoing efforts to strengthen political cooperation between leaders from the North and South-East, with the elders emphasizing the importance of national unity and strategic collaboration in shaping Nigeria’s political future.
Responding to the delegation, Kwankwaso expressed gratitude for the visit and the opportunity to discuss issues affecting the nation. He reflected on the historical political relationship between Northern and South-Eastern Nigeria and described his working relationship with Peter Obi as cordial, productive, and beneficial to the broader objectives of the movement.
The former governor further reaffirmed his commitment to the Obi/Kwankwaso (OK) Movement and the NDC, stressing that members and supporters remain determined to secure victory for the party in the upcoming elections.
Kwankwaso noted that the growing alliance between political stakeholders across different regions demonstrates a shared commitment to building a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria, while expressing confidence that the movement will continue to gain momentum nationwide as preparations intensify for the next electoral cycle.
