Fulani Association Calls for Government Intervention Over Igboho’s Recent Remarks

A Fulani socio-cultural group has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene over recent comments and activities attributed to Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Igboho.

The group expressed concern that some of Igboho’s statements could heighten tensions among ethnic communities and undermine efforts to promote peaceful coexistence. According to its leaders, government authorities should engage all stakeholders and ensure that public discourse remains within the boundaries of the law and national unity.

In a statement issued to journalists, the association urged both the federal and state governments to take proactive measures to prevent any actions capable of threatening security or disrupting harmony in affected communities. The group emphasized the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to constitutional principles in addressing grievances.

The appeal comes amid ongoing discussions surrounding security, ethnic relations, and self-determination movements in parts of the country. While supporters of Igboho maintain that he advocates for the interests of the Yoruba people, critics argue that some of his comments have generated controversy and concern among other groups.

Political observers say the development reflects the broader challenges of managing ethnic sensitivities and political activism in a diverse society. They stress the need for constructive engagement among community leaders, government officials, and civil society organizations to preserve peace and stability.

As reactions continue to emerge, stakeholders have called for restraint and dialogue as the most effective path toward resolving differences and promoting national cohesion.
