Faction Emerges in Peoples Redemption Party, Challenges Chairman Baba-Ahmed After ADC Visit

Internal divisions have surfaced within Nigeria’s Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) following a recent courtesy visit by National Chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed to his counterpart at the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The meeting, which fueled speculation about a possible coalition between the two parties, has led to the emergence of a faction within the PRP openly challenging Baba-Ahmed’s leadership.

Rumors of an alliance gained traction shortly after the visit, prompting dissenting voices in the PRP to question the chairman’s motives and authority. The ADC, meanwhile, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately orchestrating crises within opposition parties such as the PRP in an effort to weaken their ranks ahead of upcoming elections.

The developments highlight growing instability among Nigeria’s opposition parties as political maneuvering intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
