Claim of Tinubu Billboard Inside INEC Office Debunked as False

A viral video alleging the presence of a pro-Tinubu billboard inside an office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been debunked as misinformation.

The 26-second clip, which circulated on X early Thursday, showed a compound along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Some users claimed the footage was taken within an INEC facility, raising concerns about alleged bias ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, local sources and eyewitness accounts clarified that the location is actually the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors Secretariat, situated at 246 Aba Road. The facility, linked to supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was commissioned in February 2026 by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The secretariat is located near, but separate from, INEC’s office at 236 Aba Road. Observers noted that the proximity of the buildings—and in some cases shared fencing with the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC)—may have contributed to the confusion.

While some social media users cited the video as evidence of alleged electoral bias, the clarification underscores how quickly unverified claims can spread, particularly in a politically sensitive environment.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions in Rivers State politics and the importance of verifying information before drawing conclusions, especially as political activities intensify ahead of the next election cycle.
