Abuja — August 28, 2026: The National Prayers for Nigeria 2027 General Elections will officially commence tomorrow, Saturday, August 29, 2026, with Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora called upon to unite in prayer for the peace, stability and democratic future of the country.
The Director-General of the forum, Prof. Emeka Ene, disclosed this on Friday while addressing journalists shortly after a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja.
According to Ene, the initiative is a non-partisan national prayer movement designed to mobilise Nigerians across religious, ethnic and political divides to seek divine intervention ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
He said participants would dedicate 10 minutes every day, from 12:00pm to 12:10pm, to prayers for Nigeria, beginning tomorrow and continuing until Election Day.
The prayer initiative will focus on peace and national unity, free, fair and credible elections, divine guidance for leaders and electoral officials, protection of lives and property, justice, restoration and good governance.
Prof. Ene urged religious leaders, faith-based organisations, civil society groups and Nigerians generally to encourage their members and communities to participate actively in the daily prayer sessions.
He stressed that the initiative is not a campaign for any political party or candidate, but a national call for Nigerians to come together in prayer for the country and its democratic future.
> “Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we must all take responsibility for the future of our nation. We are inviting Nigerians, irrespective of their political, ethnic or religious backgrounds, to spare just ten minutes every day to pray for Nigeria,” Ene said.

The organisers have also encouraged Nigerians who wish to participate in the prayer movement to join the official prayers platform, where daily prayer points, reminders and important updates will be shared.
A QR code (barcode) is attached to this publication. New members can simply scan the code with their mobile phone camera to join the official National Prayers for Nigeria 2027 General Elections platform.
The forum further called on religious institutions and community leaders to mobilise their members and nominate representatives to participate in the national assignment.
The National Prayers for Nigeria 2027 General Elections begins tomorrow, Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12:00pm to 12:10pm, and will continue daily until Election Day.
